Germany sees jump in power prices on low wind generation
German power prices spiked to above €1,000 per MWh as wind generation receded. Imports surged to the highest in a decade, prompting gas- and oil-fired plants to step in and meet the demand. Germany has spent more on renewable energy than almost anyone else in the world, but the market is at the mercy of intermittent power generation.
